Eureka, we have found it!
Meeting our new neighbors
Mālama Kai entered the channel through the jetties off Humboldt Bay on August 29 after a five day journey from Port Townsend, Washington. After some boisterous seas, due to converging swells off the coast of Washington and Oregon, our autopilot decided to go on strike. Our hearty crew hand steered as best we could, but we made the decision to head into Eureka for needed parts and sleep!
We could not have expected a warmer welcome! A friendly fisherman passed us in the channel, waved the shaka brah, and said, “Aloha, you are looking good, what a beautiful boat!”
